Résumé En

Despite the strong interest from the scientifi c community in the chronicle entitled Gli annali di messer Mattheo Spinello da Giovenazzo (1247-1268) since the second half of the 16th century, one of his handwritten manuscript kept at the Inguimbertine of Carpentras Library-Museum had never been studied because of a French researcher, Honoré D’Albert duke of Luynes who decreed in 1839 that this manuscript was identical to the one kept at the National Library of France in Paris. Th is article aims to demonstrate how duke of Luynes’s assertion was wrong by the collation of the two handwritten manuscripts and providing essential insight which can help researchers confi rm or modify their conclusions on this historical source whose authorship and dating have long been a bone of contention.
