This opinion paper contrasts the notion of well-being used in positive psychology with the notion of “quality of life” now included in developmental psychology. Data collected on children's’ level of satisfaction in various domains of their daily life suggest that quality of life should be integrated into the analysis of the developmental niche, or into the bioecological model of development.
