Gemma García-Soriano et al., « Obsessive themes, evaluative appraisals, and thought control strategies: testing the autogenous-reactive model of obsessions », International Journal of Clinical and Health Psychology, ID : 10670/1.bapc1r
"Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is considered a heterogeneouscondition involving obsessional themes and associated control strategies. This ex postfacto study was designed to examine the usefulness of the autogenous-reactive modelof obsessions on the light of the cognitive approaches proposing that OCD arises froma particular set of dysfunctional beliefs. Three hundred thirty non-clinical adults completeda set of questionnaires assessing obsessional intrusions and related evaluative appraisals, beliefs, and control strategies, as well as OCD and depressive symptoms, anxiety, andworry proneness. The autogenous obsessions were assessed as being more unpleasantand more unacceptable, causing more guilt feelings and producing a greater need to becontrolled than the reactive obsessions. The reactive obsessions were appraised as moreuncontrollable and more likely to be real. The subjects having autogenous obsessionswere more depressed than those dysplaying reactive obsessions. Finally, the autogenousobsessions showed more relationships with several dysfunctional beliefs and thoughtcontrol strategies than the reactive obsessions."
