Acropolis 702 votive relief reconsidered: Hermes, the Aglaurids and Keryx

Acropolis 702 votive relief has often been interpreted as depicting Hermes with the three Graces, or Hermes with the three daughters of Kekrops. Most scholars identifying the female figures with the Graces fail to provide an identification for the young boy, while those identifying them with the Aglaurids identify the young boy with Erichthonios or Erysichthon. I suggest that the young boy depicted in the scene is Keryx, while I provide specific identification for each of the daughters of Kekrops, the first female as Aglauros, the second as Pandrosos and the third as Herse.

Le relief votif Acropole 702 a souvent été interprété comme une représentation des trois Grâces, ou d’Hermès avec les trois filles de Cécrops. La plupart des chercheurs identifiant les figures féminines avec les Grâces ne proposent aucune identification pour le jeune garçon, tandis que ceux les identifiant avec les Aglaurides y reconnaissent Érichthonios ou Érysichthon. Je propose d’identifier le jeune garçon de la scène avec Kéryx et d’identifier plus spécifiquement chacune des filles de Cécrops, la première comme Aglauros, la seconde Pandrosos et la troisième Hersè.
