Résumé 0

‪In March 1973, Joseph Fontanet decided that secondary schools would be free to use 10% of the annual timetable. The Minister of National Education took up one of the proposals put forward by the “Commission of studies on the teaching function in secondary education”, which had been set up in 1972 in response to the crisis in the pedagogical relationship in secondary schools. The reform took up some of the objectives of progressive education: interdisciplinary activities, opening up teaching to the outside world, teamwork between teachers. After presenting the reform and its causes, this article studies its implementation and achievements, and then seeks to understand the reasons for its erosion, followed by its abandonment.‪
