Résumé
We explore the issues surrounding the opening of social media research data. Firstly, in order to observe what place is given to data in social media research, we analyse articles published in two prominent French Information and Communication Science journals. This analysis allows us to identify and to describe the nature of the data, the methods used and the type of processing mentioned in articles dealing with social media research. Secondly, we discuss a critical experience stemming from a research program on HIV prevention dedicated to the detection of risky behavior on social media. In our discussion, we highlight questions related to the data cycle and to personal health data.
