Le contexte culturel confère à la maladie mentale des caractéristiques qui sont susceptibles de modifier la symptomatologie dans toute société et culture. Ici, il s’agit d’un patient originaire du Mali convaincu d’être atteint de la lèpre. L’approche culturelle semble être le précurseur de l’instauration de l’alliance thérapeutique d’une part, et d’autre part permet d’accompagner de manière adaptée le patient jusqu’à la critique de sa symptomatologie.
The cultural context confers characteristics on mental illness that are liable to alter symptom profiles in any society or culture. We report here on a patient from Mali who was convinced that he had leprosy. The cultural approach seemed on the one hand to be a precursor to the establishment of the therapeutic alliance, and on the other it enabled the patient to be supported in an appropriate manner until he was able to adopt a critical approach to his symptoms.
En toda sociedad el contexto cultural imprime a la enfermedad mental ciertas características susceptibles de alterar la sintomatología. En este artículo, se trata de un paciente de Mali que está convencido de que tiene lepra. De una parte, el abordaje cultural parece favorecer el establecimiento de la alianza terapéutica. Este abordaje permite también que el paciente sea seguido de manera adecuada hasta alcanzar una cierta de su delirio.
