Résumé 0

Within the framework of “situated learning” we offer an analysis of parental participation in early childhood education as a learning place for adults engaged in early-childhood educational and care structures. A qualitative approach, relying mainly on group interviews, is used to present non-conventional Chilean experiences. These consist of centres that call upon parents to participate actively, as a structural component of their operation, an experience adapted at the same time to the local community tissue. Beyond the observation of diverse participatory practices, their possible spin-offs and limits, the presence of a community-based action model allows for an informal learning process, especially of including the political context.
