Résumé En

In 2012, the State Hermitage Museum's collection of contemporary art was expanded with a collection of 848 Russian envelopes illustraded by 200 artists from the 20th-21 st centuries. The envelopes formerly belonged to the family of Georges Matcheret and Nadia Wolkonsky. The items presented at the exhibition were decorated by famous masters of the Soviet underground, such as Ilya Kabakov, Erik Bulatov, Vladimir Nemukhin, Oskar Rabin and others, as well as by prominent figures of the post Soviet art scene. The form of the envelopes, which favors a high concentration of details, has been a unique form of artistic expression in Russia from Soviet times until the present day. The article also contains Georges Matcheret and Nadia Wolkonsky's stories about their amazing meetings with Russian painters.
