This article examines return migration in the commune of Niomré, located in the Louga region of Senegal, highlighting the motivations of return migrants, the challenges related to their socio-economic reintegration, and the local opportunities that could support their sustainable integration. The study is based on a mixed methodology, combining semi-structured interviews conducted with return migrants and local stakeholders, as well as focus groups to validate the collected data. The analysis, which integrates qualitative and quantitative approaches, identifies the main issues surrounding return migration and proposes action plans to enhance the reintegration process. The results reveal that the local economy of Niomré relies on agriculture and livestock, sectors constrained by low yields, climate challenges, and a lack of infrastructure, while commerce, which is poorly structured, offers few economic opportunities. Despite these limitations, the return of migrants represents a unique opportunity to boost the local economy through the financial resources and skills they bring. The study specifically recommends diversifying economic activities, strengthening agricultural and commercial infrastructures, and developing tailored financing mechanisms. These actions aim to transform return migration into a lever for sustainable local development, contributing to the economic growth and prosperity of the commune of Niomré.

Cet article examine la migration de retour dans la commune de Niomré, située dans la région de Louga, au Sénégal, en mettant en lumière les motivations des migrants de retour, les défis liés à leur réinsertion socio-économique et les opportunités locales susceptibles de favoriser leur intégration durable. L’étude s’appuie sur une méthodologie mixte, combinant des entretiens semi-structurés menés auprès de migrants de retour et d’acteurs locaux, ainsi que des focus groupes pour valider les données recueillies. L’analyse, alliant approches qualitatives et quantitatives, identifie les principaux enjeux de la migration de retour et propose des leviers d’action pour améliorer la réinsertion des migrants. Les résultats révèlent que l’économie locale de Niomré repose sur l’agriculture et l’élevage, des secteurs limités par de faibles rendements, des contraintes climatiques et un manque d’infrastructures, tandis que le commerce, peu structuré, offre peu d’opportunités économiques. Malgré ces contraintes, le retour des migrants constitue une chance unique de dynamiser l’économie locale grâce aux ressources financières et aux compétences qu’ils apportent. L’étude recommande notamment la diversification des activités économiques, le renforcement des infrastructures agricoles et commerciales, ainsi que l’élaboration de mécanismes de financement adaptés, des actions qui visent à transformer la migration de retour en un levier de développement local durable, contribuant à la croissance économique et à la prospérité de la commune de Niomré.
