Résumé 0

The article analyzes the re-appropriation of the heritage of prior 1939 peasants movements by the PSL (Polskie Stronnictwo Ludowe) in Poland. First, we investigate the usage of peasants’ identity by the ZSL (Zjednoczone Stronnictwo Ludowe), the peasants satellite party, at the end of the 1980s. In the second part, this appropriation is linked to the 1989 mobilization that various actors used to legitimize their role as peasants representatives. Lastly, we pose ex ZSL leaders as a constituted fundamental group that instrumentalized peasants identity heritage to seize their votes. The reflection breaks with the societal approach traditionally called to account for PSL successes.
