Résumé
Some scholars consider verbal voice and diathesis as synonyms, others differentiate them on the basis that diathesis only concerns a semantic function and designates the relationship established between the verbal process and the argument structure, depending on whether the latter is the source, the center or the target of the process. Thus, diathesis is widely seen as a syntactico-semantic concept and voice as a morphological one.
