Résumé 0

When dealing with trauma, it is essential to address its transmission. Using research on the transmission of war experiences (the Lebanese context), we aimed to highlight issues that researchers/clinicians have to deal with when working with these populations. Among Lebanese migrant families, both war experiences and the migratory journey appear to be difficult issues in family histories, but this does not prevent their children from imagining or dreaming these experiences. The tendency to avoid talking about the past is related to a desire to protect children from the violence of these memories. Faced with their parents’ difficulties in talking about their history, children seek to fill the gaps. Transmission occurs despite conscious efforts to inhibit it. It also extends beyond the family to reach the researcher or clinician who becomes the custodian of this history. It is then crucial for the clinician or researcher to render the narratives shareable and pass them on to his peers. This transformation process allows clinicians or researchers to share their experiences and escape the isolation that can be felt, especially with trauma patients.
