O eleitor tem as suas razões... Em resposta a Judtih Manya Regresso à análise do referendo de 28 de Junho de 1998 sobre o aborto. Em que medida este fracasso se deve essencialmente à variante religiosa e ao PS ? Em vez de se estigmatizar o «clerical-socialismo», não se deve ver na abstenção massiva a tradução de uma evolução brutal de um eleitorado português que passa de uma votação tradicional em torno de clivagens a uma votação sobre valores para o qual ele não estava manifestamente preparado ?

The elector has his reasons... To response to Judith Manya Back to the analysis of the referendum of 28 June 1998 on abortion. To what extent can this failure essentially be attributed to the religious variable and to the Socialist Party ? Rather than stigmatising «clerical-socialism», should we not see the mass abstention as the expression of a brutal change in the Portuguese electorate, going from a traditional division-based vote to a vote on values for which it was manifestly ill prepared ?

Dans quelle mesure cet échec est-il essentiellement imputable à la variable religieuse et au PS ? Plutôt que de stigmatiser le «clérical-socialisme», ne faut-il pas voir dans l'abstention massive la traduction d'une évolution brutale de l'électorat portugais passant d'un vote traditionnel sur clivages à un vote sur valeurs auquel il n'était manifestement pas préparé ?
