Sound space is then the central theme of the early years of CRESSON (research center on sound space) which was created in 1979 within the Grenoble School of Architecture. Resituating the approach and the work undertaken at the CRESSON laboratory on the sound environment is the subject of this article which goes back a little in time to understand the emergence of this research and its production context. We will do the exercise here by briefly recalling a set of works undertaken during research and publications which constitute the body of this project of a sound anthropology then of a multi-sensory approach to the atmospheres anchored in the built space and the transformation projects.

L'espace sonore est alors le thème central des premières années du CRESSON (centre de recherche sur l'espace sonore) qui fut créé en 1979 au sein de l'école d'Architecture de Grenoble. Resituer la démarche et les travaux entrepris au laboratoire CRESSON sur l'environnement sonore est l'objet de cet article qui remonte quelque peu dans le temps pour comprendre l'émergence de ces recherches et leur contexte de production. On fera ici l'exercice en rappelant brièvement un ensemble de travaux entrepris au cours de recherches et de publications qui constituent le corps de ce projet d'une anthropologie sonore puis d'une approche plurisensorielle des ambiances ancrées dans l'espace construit et les projets de transformations.
