Jean-Baptiste Muller et al., « Attachment behaviors of newborns and situations with impaired maternal–infant bonding », Périnatalité, ID : 10670/1.ccif4h
The establishment of an attachment bond concerns all caregivers in the perinatal period. Infant attachment behaviors, as well as maternal care, are observed in the maternity ward and then in consultations by pediatricians, midwives, and pediatric nurses. Nevertheless, since the beginning of pregnancy follow-up, every professional can spot indicators of insecurity or situations affecting maternal representations. Detailing the clinical approach to attachment behaviors makes it possible to assess this dimension during the daily care of newborns and their parents. In specific situations, such as in the case of the hospitalization of the newborn, maternal psychological vulnerability, or premature birth, health care teams must be particularly attentive to the clinical elements of the establishment of these first parent–infant links.
