Some plants have original characteristics strongly differing from others of their group. Various known cases have been classified to establish a typology of those déviances. Several hypotheses for the evolutionary significance of these different kinds of forms are proposed. If some case may be relied to an evolutionary line, other ones from their taxonomic isolation, seem to attest sudden transformations according to a non-adaptative saltational evolution model.

Certaines plantes présentent des caractéristiques originales qui différent profondément des autres représentants de leur groupe. Divers cas connus sont classés afin de proposer une typologie de ces déviances. Des hypothèses sur la signification évolutive de ces différents types de formes sont envisagées. Si certains cas peuvent être rattachés à une lignée évolutive, d’autres, par leur isolement taxonomique, semblent témoigner de transformations brutales qui sont attribuables à un modèle d’évolution non adaptative par saltation.
