This article presents the results obtained as part of a research related to the development of phonological competence in French language due to its importance to achieve a quality communicative process. From the application of methods, techniques and instruments of scientific research to the students of the Bachelor's Degree in Education, Specialty Foreign Languages of the University of Sancti Spíritus "José Martí Pérez", it was determined, as main deficiency, the limited availability of teaching materials and specialized bibliography in French phonetics and phonology for the selfpreparation of students and teachers and, as a potential, the existence of the subject "Elements of French Phonetics and Phonology" as part of the curriculum of this career. The most relevant result of the research was the elaboration of a system of didactic activities based on the use of a virtual classroom to favor the learning of the elements of French phonetics and phonology and the development of phonological competence in that language
