This article shows the features of the constituentidentification practices of southernUkraine and Odessa city, and states somechanges that have occurred over the past 7years since the Revolution of dignity in 2013-2014. The main characteristics of Odessa’sIdentity we have revealed consist of 2 trends.First one is a high self-organization potentialof the population, the presence of a high levelof business activity, as well as the desire andthe ability to protect themselves, their lovedones, their rights. At the same time, distrusttowards institutional structures is traditionallyobserved, and as well as, there are close networksof informal contacts that help to surviveand “address problems”. Secondly, the creationof new informal associations of civic activistswho since 2014 have taken active partboth in social networks and in the real socialspace of the city and become real germs ofcivil society in the Odessa region.
