Résumé En

Tolkien fandom has been active since the beginning of the 1960s and has produced a variety of fanzines, in multiple contexts. This paper explores the different types of Tolkien-dedicated fanzines in the USA and the UK in the first decades of Tolkien fandomit shows how "Tolkien-zines" have been influenced and inspired by science-fiction fandom. The analysis then focuses on a specific phenomenon observed in some fanzines, edited by fan communities: studying three examples, we observe how some amateur publications evolve and play with the frontier between fandom and academia.
