Résumé 0

Are we to neglect children by placing our priority on adult catechesis? This is the question on which Michel Nolin agreed to reflect. In this article he offers us the fruits of his research. In a post-Christian, secularised society, where the transmission of faith no longer takes place from generation to generation, in the current context in Quebec, where there will no longer be any religious instruction in schools as of September 2008, he take a lucid approach to this question. Examining first of all the motivations for the decision in favour of adult catechesis, he raises some important questions: How are we to define catechesis today? What are the challenges faced? How do we view children? What options are on offer? He arrives at the following observations: We are in a situation of opposition - adult catechesis versus children’s catechesis. Can we make a choice? He thinks not, and suggests a solution that could eliminate this dilemma and reassure those who are anxious that both children’s and adult’s catechesis are needed.
