Teleology is a very relevant causal form in biology, but it raises a metaphysical problem because it seems to introduce some project in nature. Biologists generally attempt to find some theoretical instruments that allow to assimilate teleological explanation to efficient causation. This thesis addresses this problem through a transcendental approach, in a Kantian sense and is inspired by the neo-kantian interpretation of Marburg school. After a detailed explanation of the transcendental perspective adopted, it is proposed to solve the ambiguous status of teleological causation by taking into account the transcendental nature of causality in general. By showing the role of regulating principle of causation in general, and therefore also of efficient causality in physics, this work ascribes the status of a specific transcendental and a priori principle to teleology. Taking inspiration from the Kantian definition of teleology, but with a critical conceptual extension, teleology is interpreted as a principle that allows the determination of a specific order in biology. This specific type of order is coupled with the constitutive frame of extended criticality, which is the result of a conceptual extension from critical phenomena in physics to biological sciences.

La téléologie est une forme causale très pertinente en biologie, mais qui peut soulever un problème métaphysique car elle semble introduire un projet dans la nature. De manière générale la biologie s'est consacrée à trouver des moyens théoriques permettant de rabattre l'explication téléologique sur le plan de la causalité efficiente. Ce travail propose d'aborder ce problème par une approche transcendantale au sens kantien, inspirée par l'interprétation de l’école néo-kantienne de Marbourg. Après avoir exposé en détail la perspective transcendantale adoptée, on propose de dissoudre le statut ambigu de la causalité téléologique en prenant en compte la nature transcendantale de la causalité en général. En montrant le rôle de principe régulateur de la causalité en général, et donc aussi de la causalité efficiente en physique, ce travail attribue un statut de principe spécifique, au sens transcendantal et a priori, à la téléologie. En puisant dans la définition qu'en donne Kant, mais avec une extension critique, la téléologie est interprétée comme un principe qui permet la détermination d'un ordre spécifique pour la biologie. Ce type spécifique d'ordre est couplé conceptuellement au cadre constitutif de la criticité étendue, qui résulte d'une extension des concepts portant sur les systèmes critiques en physique vers les sciences du vivant.
