Jonathan R. W. Prag, « Ciceronian Sicily: The Epigraphic Dimension », Collection de l'Institut des Sciences et Techniques de l'Antiquité, ID : 10670/1.d7qq1g
For the purposes of contextualizing the Verrines, this paper surveys the (lapidary) epigraphy of Hellenistic / Republican Sicily. The use of epigraphic evidence alongside a literary text such as the Verrines presents certain methodological problems. In the first part of the paper I summarize possible approaches and earlier discussion ; the second part of the paper combines a case study of these methodologies with a survey of the epigraphic evidence for Ciceronian Sicily.
