Cette étude a pour objet la concurrence entre l’anxiété et la pratique du jeu du foulard chez dix collégiens reconnaissant s’y adonner, cinq garçons et cinq filles, âgés de 13 à 15 ans. Elle se fonde sur un entretien directif, portant sur le poids de l’interdit et de la dangerosité perçue, et le caractère auto-calmant du jeu, en relation avec l’anxiété des pratiquants (12 thèmes abordés, à partir de 18 questions). Les résultats permettent de constater 1o que cette pratique est généralement accompagnée d’une conscience plus ou moins explicite de l’interdit et du danger associés à ce jeu, 2o qu’elle revêt, pour la plupart des jeunes, un caractère auto-calmant et 3o que les pratiquants présentent fréquemment un tableau anxieux particulièrement prononcé.
