This editorial retraces the preparation and elaboration of this special issue of the Geographische Zeitschrift, which is dedicated to theoretical work in contemporary francophone geographies and is aimed at German-speaking readers. The questions and objectives are outlined and reflected upon, as well as the difficulties encountered in implementing the special issue.
