Résumé
The AVREVS project offered the chance to profit from the agreement between the Department of Coins and Medals of the Bibliothèque nationale de France and the IRAMAT – Centre Ernest-Babelon to study a sample of the outstanding gold jewellery collection of the Bibliothèque nationale de France. Analyses of eleven Graeco-Roman gold rings, conducted with the LA-ICP-MS method, are presented here. This method, also used in the framework of the project to analyse gold coins, allows fruitful comparisons between the metallic composition of the two categories of object, in the contents of both major and trace elements.
