"This paper presents the results of the UBACYT research project "Prevalence of Violenceagainst Women: An Alternative Approach from the Health Care Field," carried out in a PublicHospital´s Maternity and Obstetrics Service in the City of Buenos Aires (Argentina). The studysought to identify the social representations and attitudes of medical-obstetrics discourse asregards domestic violence against women (etiological explanations, affected populations, interventionstrategies), and create a typology of social representations in medical-obstetrics discourseas regards domestic violence.Based on semi-structured interviews to the Hospital´s practitioners, the questions were developedaccording to the different sectors in which they perform their professional task: outpatients´offices, delivery, and inpatients."
