Résumé En

The personalization of politicians has transformed the way how we perceive their abilities, whether political or personal. It has helped their quest to look like humans, so citizens can better connect with them. While this process of humanization is quite common nowadays, only a few French politicians have been able to have such an influential personality as Jacques Chirac did. Even having some maybe arguable behaviors, his image has become a referent for young adults to the point of becoming a pop icon. His face is now on T-shirts and other memorabilia that young adults linked to hipster trends wear. This paper aims to underline some of the reasons that have made an icon of President Chirac and also analyze the sociocultural context of the phenomenon.
