Résumé
The bicycle-transit intermodality, that refers to bicycle and transit use in a single trip, could contribute to increase car-free travel as it overcomes the bicycle’s limited range and the fact that public transport does not provide a door-to-door service. This paper presents some results of a multidisciplinary investigation of this complementary aspect, that has not been much considered in France until now, in spite of an actual potential for increase in many areas on various scales (urban, suburbs, interurban). This potential could be exploited in several ways according to the various needs and preferences of cyclists (B&R or R&B, bicycle parking or loading, etc.). As the solutions are location-specific, two case studies have been conducted.
