La réponse à Denis Müller souligne le lieu du livre en discussion, l’espace public et son requisit propre. N’y est donc pas proposé un chapitre d’histoire de la théologie, même si divers moments de cette histoire y sont mobilisés, au titre d’illustration au service de la problématique de fond poursuivie. Elle souligne au passage le type de mise en rapport, inhabituel, des chapitres respectivement consacrés au religieux et au social, et se termine par des précisions touchant ce que sont la théologie et sa tâche.

Gisel’s reply to Denis Müller seeks to situate his work within public space, taking into account the proper requirements that this context supposes. The book under discussion does not constitute a chapter in the history of theology, even if various moments of this history are considered there for illustrative purposes in the service of the fundamental problematic pursued. In passing, the author also discusses the atypical relationship between the chapters devoted respectively to religion and the social and concludes with precisions regarding the definition of theology and its task.
