Mariana Dominguez Villaverde, « The pieds-noirs of Alicante: a migration against the tide? (1962-1970) », HAL SHS (Sciences de l’Homme et de la Société), ID : 10670/1.e4ba79...
The installation in 1962 of several thousand pieds-noirs in Spain, and particularly in the province of Alicante, is part of a political process: the Independence of Algeria. It is the consequence of an exile and a long history of migrations in the Mediterranean that allows us to conceive it as a form of return. This implantation had a strong economic, political and cultural impact in the region and, paradoxically, occurred in a period of massive emigration of Spanish people to Europe. How is the "success" of the installation of this community in Spain justified in this context of expulsion?
