"Only a single jade workshop has been found at Cancuén to date, and it presents evidence of the earliest production stages for beads and earrings. Therefore, many questions remain to be resolved on the organization of jade production at the site. In this work we consider the problem, beginning with the jade objects found throughout Cancuén. We demonstrate great typological variety of jade objects and a diversity of distinct operational series in production. This information, comparedwith analysis supporting geochemical data (PIXE, DRX, RAMAN) run on samples obtained from Cancuén artifacts, shows that an important part of the jade artifacts from the site come from other workshops and not from the famous workshop of Cancuén."
