Since the beginning of the Syrian civil war, many actors have been involved. Iran and its allied militias are among the most impactful because it is largely their efforts that have kept Bachar al-Assad in power. This intervention is coupled with a territorial strategy in some of Syria’s geographic regions. This comes alongside an older political strategy of penetration and support for the dynamics of Shiitization, which should be put into perspective.
