This article deals with protracted rural protests in the vast region of North-Eastern Shäwa and Southern Wällo during the period 1941-1974. Four major protracted protests have made their appearance in this vast region during the period covered by this study. These were the one led by Muhammed Ibrahim in 1947-1949, the Conflict of Arbawayyu and the Waylaying against Crown Prince Asfawäsän in January and April 1949, the April 1949 Siege and Hassen Ammé Zerraf and his Colleagues.
