This article presents a French validation of the Youth Sport Values Questionnaire-2 (FVYSVQ-2) based on the original version (YSVQ-2; Lee et al. 2008), which consists of three subscales assessing moral, competence, and status values. Three studies were conducted, with 717 athletes in total. Following Vallerand’s (1989) cross-cultural validation methodology, a preliminary version of the FVYSVQ-2 was drawn up and the equivalence and clarity of its items was established based on the responses of 20 participants (Study 1). Confirmatory factor analysis then confirmed that the expected three-factor structure of the FVYSVQ-2 was consistent with the original version and showed a partial invariance across genders and type of sport (N = 522), and over time (N = 51), with good internal consistency (Study 2). Finally, the predictive validity of the FVYSVQ-2 was demonstrated through its expected relationships with both basic values and moral disengagement using the responses of 124 participants (Study 3). The FVYSVQ-2 appears to be a psychometrically sound instrument with some cultural differences in the interpretation of its constructs. The validation of this instrument makes it possible for France to be included in transcultural psychological studies on youth sport values.
