Résumé 0

In 1938 September, the German claim concerning the Czechoslovakian part of the Sudetes brought about intensive diplomatic activity about the risk of a possible European war. Pacifist France meets with deep worries and antisemitic outbursts can be noted, mainly in the regained departments and in Paris area. If extremist activists are the authors of many outbursts, their slogans and their actions seem to have encountered a favourable answer among more moderate parts of the public. Before and after Munich conference (1938, September 30) France seems to be gripped by an antisemitic fever, of a rarely observed violence, against the warmonger Jew and the Hitler one together.
