This article is the result of research on the future of industrial heritage in the Monts d’Ardèche (author, 2021). From an analysis of a corpus of nearly 700 sites, three places are identified because the project leaders are explicitly involved in the development of social innovations. On one of these sites, the Chirols mill, the description of the mobilised heritages, the actors involved and their modes of organisation, as well as the projects developed, question the status of the collectives involved as « territorial operators of the transition ». In parallel to a discussion on the modalities of territorial anchorage of these innovations, the article verifies the capacity of the project leader, the Collectif du moulinage de Chirols, to set up intermediations between differentiated actors, between scales of intervention but also between the long history of the territory and contemporary action. In doing so, it puts into discussion the hypothesis of a transformative patrimonialisation of the trajectory of the territories, which now deserves to be confronted with other fields of study.

Le présent article résulte d’un travail de recherche sur le devenir du patrimoine industriel dans les Monts d’Ardèche (Vigné, 2021). À partir d’une analyse d’un corpus de près de 700 sites, trois lieux sont identifiés car les porteurs de projet y sont explicitement engagés dans le développement d’innovations sociales. Sur l’un de ces sites, le moulinage de Chirols, la description des patrimoines mobilisés, des acteurs engagés et de leurs modes d’organisation, ainsi que des projets développés, interrogent le statut des collectifs impliqués en tant « qu’opérateur territorial de la transition ». En parallèle à une discussion sur les modalités d’ancrage territorial de ces innovations, l’article vérifie la capacité du porteur de projet, le Collectif du moulinage de Chirols à mettre en place des intermédiations entre des acteurs différenciés, entre des échelles d’intervention mais aussi entre l’histoire longue du territoire et l’action contemporaine. Ce faisant, il met en discussion l’hypothèse d’une patrimonialisation transformative de la trajectoire des territoires, qui mérite maintenant d’être confrontée à d’autres terrains d’étude.
