Göllüdağ Volcanic Complex is a well-known source of obsidian in Cappadocia (Çiftlik, Turkey) and a part of Central Anatolian Volcanic Complex was occupied by prehistoric activity. As first indicated by Renfrew (1969) the Göllüdağ obsidian had been widely exploited during Paleolithic and Neo-Chalcolithic for producing various chipped tools with increasing expertise. These tools were dispersed trough the Middle East and Levant also even to the Cyprus especially during the Chalcolithic.In this study, we mapped the surface distribution of obsidian formations within the complex, defining the surface and physical characteristics of the outcrops. With the help of dense sampling from these outcrops, 200 samples are analyzed using non-destructive LA-ICPMS method to reveal the geochemical signature and possible characterization of the sources. The results indicate that obsidian is mostly formed of major element oxides (98.5%) and among the remaining trace/rare elements only a few of them are capable for defining reliable groups. All data gathered are evaluated within the geographical information system (GIS) developed for the region. According to the correlation of geochemical groups with their spatial distribution, we propose 4 main spatio-chemical groups with related sub-groups for the Göllüdağ Obsidian sources
