Collégiens issus de Calandreta : quelles représentations de l'occitan ?

L'occitan est la langue d'immersion des écoles bilingues occitan-français primaires et maternelles que sont les Calandretas. À ce titre, il est valorisé et occupe une majorité de fonctions dans l'école (enseignement et communication), alors qu'à l'extérieur, le français est dominant. En région toulousaine, les enfants qui ont fréquenté ces écoles intègrent ensuite des collèges où la langue régionale n'a plus les mêmes fonctions : elle ne sert que marginalement à la transmission-construction des connaissances, n'est plus qu'une option, redevient la langue minorée dans un contexte globalement diglossique. Cette enquête de terrain a cherché à percevoir l'impact de ce changement d'environnement sur les représentations des collégiens frais émoulus du système bilingue immersif.

High-school pupils fresh out of Calandreta and their perception of Occitan In the Calandretas, the French-Occitan bilingual kindergartens and primary schools, the children are immersed in the Occitan language. It is highly prized and fills most of the functions in the school (teaching and communication), whereas on the outside, French is dominant. In the Toulouse region, the children who went to these schools then go on to attend secondary schools where the regional language no longer fills the same functions: it is used only marginally to teach and build knowledge, is just one option among others and has fallen back into its minority status in a globally diglossic environment. This field study looked to pinpoint the impact of such a change on the representations that pupils fresh out of the bilingual system of immersion have of Occitan.
