Résumé 0

Pain must be fought at all costs. This has not always been the case and over the centuries the search for the meaning of pain has taken different forms. It was in the 20th century that pain was rejected as senseless in reference to the pain at the end of life. But many other pains are neglected or even sought after. This cultural rejection of pain is accompanied by a medical treatment of pain which paradoxically has reduced our sensitivity to pain. So much so that we see rebellious or even refractory pain appearing. The fear of pain replaces the fear of death and we prefer to die for fear of suffering.
