Résumé 0

The choice, in 1929, of the original and limited form of the Vatican City State, to guarantee the international status of the Holy See, has augmented its legal protections, first of whole with regards to Italy, by the legal resolution of the “Roman Question”. But, at the same time, it has created obligations for the Apostolic See and has put it in a situation where its singularity, while still guaranteed by the original rules of the State, might find itself increasingly challenged.
