Marjorie Roques et al., « The Work of Illness – A Substrate for Creative Processes in the Sick Painter? », Champ psy, ID : 10670/1.fa21d2...
The authors of this paper adopt a psychodynamic perspective on the bonds between somatic illness and the creative process in two painters – Adrien, a painter treated for hepatic disease, and Henri de Toulouse Lautrec. Their hypothesis is based on the idea that those constraints on the body and thought imposed by bodily weakness may be seen as triggers of the creative process.
