Résumé
The open primaries that the Socialist party is about to organize represent a new factor in French politics. However, while their precise nature has not yet been established they are already a topic of dispute. This is due to the fact that they are the result both of the Socialist Party’s internal problems and of particular political circumstances, but also the outcome of the evolution of our democracy and of the role that political parties could be called to play in the future.
