Recent history shows that second generations also find it difficult to be integrated. Now that post-colonial immigrations are globalized, neighborhoods dominated by migrants have become cosmopolitan marketplaces. The public space inhabited by migrants also evolved, as emigrants become immigrants, and as families regroup. The new generation wants to embody tradition, and is no longer afraid of exhibiting ostentatious signs of identity in the public space.
