Résumé 0

Part of the current rejection of psychoanalysis in the treatment of autistic children can be attributed to an error in the clinical consideration of the parents’ role. The authors seek to open up discussion on the theoretical points of reference underpinning the running of a therapeutic scheme for care and education where they work known as Lugar de Vida (Brazil). In what they refer to as Therapeutic Education, the role of the parents is completely redefined. The very idea of interpreting their supposed responsibility in the emergence of autism in their offspring is rejected, as also the provision of technical advice so they can assist in behavioural programmes, in favour of boosting the dialogue inherent to the transitional space between the parents and the child as likely to lead to both therapeutic and educational benefits.
