Une hypothèse freudienne fondée sur une fantaisie phylogénétique supposait dans le processus d’hominisation le passage de la station à quatre pattes à la position debout entraînant un refoulement dit organique ( organische Verdrängung) des satisfactions libidinales olfactives pour faire place à un primat du visuel. Ce texte interroge, à partir de l’état de notre modernité qui nous éloignerait de plus en plus de la capacité à fabriquer de nos propres mains les objets, cet effet de refoulement de la main et de l’investissement dont elle était objet. Nous partons ici de l’hypothèse d’une analogie entre le refoulement organique freudien et un refoulement de la fonction de la main produit par l’emprise de la technologie et de la numérisation du lien au monde et dont nous mesurons actuellement modestement l’enjeu.

A Freudian hypothesis based on a phylogenic fantasy assumed that in the process of human evolution and the transition from a quadruped to an upright walker, came along an organic repression ( organische Verdrängung) of olfactory libidinous satisfactions in order to make room for visual primacy. Based on the current state of our modernity which pulls us further away from our ability to make the goods we consume with our own hands, this article questions the impact of the hand’s repression and the investment of which it was the object. We propose an analogy between Freudian organic repression from the standpoint of the verticality of the human body and a repression of the hand’s function, resulting from the grip of technology and digitization in our relationship to the world, the significance of which we have yet to completely grasp.
