For a very short period (08.05.1967-05.03.1968), just before 1968, Michel Ecochard was appointed Professor of town planning at ENSBA (architecture section). His appointment came within the framework of the reform of architectural education wanted by Max Querrien, Director of Architecture under the Malraux Ministry. This appointment follows that of Jean Fayeton as Director of Studies at ENSBA, while optional education already existed with the Tony Garnier seminar. Over the course of the meetings for the establishment of this town planning education intended for all students, strongly associated with the introduction of the humanities and effective in the fall of 1967, we note the increasingly supported assertion of the environmental idea. The premature death of Jean Fayeton in February 1968, but also the difficulties of coordination with other disciplines, in particular sociology, as well as internal tensions within the ENSBA, heralding the movement of May 68, may explain the speed with which Ecochard has ended this experiment.

Pendant une très brève période (08.05.1967-05.03.1968), juste avant 1968, Michel Ecochard a été nommé Professeur d’urbanisme à l’ENSBA (section architecture). Sa nomination est intervenue dans le cadre de la réforme de l’enseignement de l’architecture voulue par Max Querrien, Directeur de l’Architecture sous le Ministère Malraux. Cette nomination suit celle de Jean Fayeton comme Directeur des Etudes de l’ENSBA, alors qu’une enseignement optionnel existait déjà avec le séminaire Tony Garnier. Au fil des réunions pour la mise en place de cet enseignement d’urbanisme destiné à tous les élèves, fortement associé à l’introduction des sciences humaines et effectif à l’automne 1967, on note l’affirmation de plus en plus appuyée de l’idée environnementale. Le décès prématuré de Jean Fayeton en février 1968, mais aussi les difficultés de coordination avec les autres disciplines, notamment la sociologie, ainsi que les tensions internes à l’ENSBA, annonciatrices du mouvement de Mai 68, peuvent expliquer la rapidité avec laquelle Ecochard a mis fin à cette expérience.
