Trois grandes périodes sont marquantes dans le théâtre de Philippe Minyana : les années 80 avec l’importance accordée à une parole logorrhée, au maximalisme et au monologue, les années 90 avec le passage au minimalisme et l’apparition du fragment, du segment et enfin les années 2000 avec le retour au prénom et une plongée dans le surréel. C’est toute sa conception de l’écriture théâtrale qui est définie avec l’importance accordée à la forme et le changement possible du format du récit.

Three major periods are striking in Philippe Minyana’s theatre : during the 1980s the importance given to logorrhea, maximalism and monologue ; during the 1990s the switchover to minimalism and the appearance of the fragment and the segment ; and, finally, the year 2000 saw a return to the first name and a dive into the surreal. It’s all his conception of dramatic writing that appears : the importance given to form, and the possible change to the narrative format.
