Les « interfaces invisibles » qui tendent à doter invisiblement l’homme et son environnement de capacités computationnelles concentrent aujourd’hui l’attention du design de l’interaction homme-machine (IHM). Leur développement s’inscrit dans un vaste projet de reconfiguration des rapports homme-machine initié il y a plus de 30 ans par les chercheurs du PARC (Palo Alto Reseach Center). Cette contribution propose d’interroger la genèse de cette « informatique invisible » à la lumière de la trajectoire sociohistorique du design de l’interaction homme-machine.

“Invisible interfaces” are currently the main focus of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) design, and are intended to gradually and invisibly bestow both mankind and our environment with computation capabilities. Their development is part of a vast project aimed at reconfiguring the man-machine relations first established over 30 years ago by the PARC (Palo Alto Research Centre) research team. This contribution offers to investigate the origins of this “invisible computing” in light of the social-historical trajectory of Human-Computer Interaction design.
