Gong Zhang, « Chinese cinema at the invitation of French cinema literati: Chinese film events and festivals in France », HAL-SHS : histoire, ID : 10670/1.gv2kg7
This paper puts forward the argument that the distribution of Chinese films in foreign countries may have been influenced by factors specific to the target country, rather than solely by China's development in the film industry and promotional efforts by Chinese filmmakers and authorities. Through an examination of France's key events showcasing Chinese cinema since the 1980s, the article suggests that the introduction and promotion of numerous Chinese films in France was not a natural consequence of China's emergence in the global film industry, but rather a result of initiatives taken by local networks, primarily made up of French academics specializing in Chinese studies and film enthusiasts.
